The American alligator (Alligator Mississippiensis) tend to inhabit coastal areas of the southeastern United States. Female alligators rarely exceed 9 feet in length, but males can grow much larger. The Florida state record holder for length is a 14 foot 3-1/2 inch male from Lake Washington in Brevard County. Florida record for weight is a 1,043 pound (13 feet 10-1/2 inches long) male from Orange Lake in Alachua County.

Eagles and Ospreys

Is that an eagle? Not exactly… It’s an osprey also referred to as a fish eagle and sea hawk, river hawk, or fish hawk.

The osprey is a large raptor, reaching more than 60 cm (24 in) in length and 180 cm (71 in) across the wings. It is brown on the upper parts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts.
